Art, Rurality, and Critique of the Dominant Discourse
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will host a session of the V Encuentros Mundos por venir on 24 September 2026, featuring artist and researcher Asunción Molinos Gordo. Her internationally acclaimed work—including the Sharjah Biennial Prize (2015) for her project WAM (World Agriculture Museum) and her participation in the XIII Havana Biennial (2019)—challenges the categories that define “innovation” from an urban perspective, focusing on the contemporary peasantry as a cultural agent and producer of knowledge.
Molinos Gordo’s work explores themes such as land use, territorial bureaucracy, peasant strikes, and biotechnology, always from a critique of intellectual domination that prioritises the urban over the rural. In this event, she will address how rural communities not only produce food but also traditional knowledge and strategies to tackle current challenges.
The session is free and part of a series aiming to rethink the present through art and critical thought. It is not specified whether registration is required or if capacity is limited.
