A Journey to the Amazon from Valencia
On 9 September 2026, the Octubre Centre de Cultura Contemporània (OCCC) will host the screening of «Amazomania», the documentary directed by Nathan Grossman that revisits the 1996 expedition to the Amazon. During that journey, a Brazilian officer and a Swedish journalist ventured into the jungle to document the isolated Korubo tribe—an encounter the film examines through a critical lens on colonialism and its consequences. The 93-minute film won the Best Film award at DocsBarcelona 2026 and will be screened in its original version with English subtitles.
Grossman, known for his work on I Am Greta (2020)—where he followed Greta Thunberg from her early protests to her global impact—explores themes like documentary ethics, the representation of Indigenous communities, and the legacy of Western expeditions in «Amazomania». The film blends archival footage, testimonies, and a visual narrative that prompts reflection on who tells these stories and why.
