A monologue that challenges conventional humour
On 26 September at 18:00, artea lab hosts Noche Cañón, a stand-up comedy show created by Sofía Asencio alongside Beatriz Lobo, Jorge Nieto and Tomàs Aragay. Produced by Sociedad Doctor Alonso, this performance is part of the 14th Bucles Festival, a space dedicated to contemporary performing arts in Valencia.
The proposal
Noche Cañón doesn’t follow the rules of traditional stand-up. Here, humour is built through overacting, silences, paradoxes and absurdity, seeking its own way of generating text. Interaction with the audience is key, pushing the boundaries of malauva humour—an uninhibited, popular style—into more experimental territory. The dramaturgy is by Sofía Asencio and Tomàs Aragay, while the team explores rhythms and unexpected connections with spectators.
Context and production
This show is part of the Bucles Festival, an annual event bringing together innovative performing arts proposals. The 26 September performance will be the only one at artea lab, a Valencian space dedicated to artistic research and creation.
