'La Xica': Marina Bolea’s new project
On 25 September 2026, Octubre Centre de Cultura Contemporània (OCCC) in Valencia kicks off the sixth edition of the Amb veu de Dona cycle with a concert by Marina Bolea, the Valencian singer and violinist known for her time with the band Maluks. Under the name 'La Xica', Bolea presents her solo project, a musical proposal that combines electronic pop, dark sonorities, and elements of Valencian tradition, where the violin takes centre stage.
The project began to take shape with the release of her first songs and the work La Xica I, in which she explores themes such as memory, roots, and popular culture, always from a personal and contemporary perspective. Bolea’s proposal stands out for its ability to integrate local elements into a global musical language, using the violin not only as a melodic instrument but also as a symbol of connection to her origins.
A cycle dedicated to music made by women
'Amb veu de Dona' is an initiative by Acció Cultural del País Valencià that, since its first edition, has sought to highlight musical creation led by women. The 2026 programme includes six concerts, all free to attend, and will run from September to December at the OCCC. This cycle has established itself as a key space for discovering innovative proposals and advocating for the role of women in music.
