A scenic journey about freedom and courage
La libertad se toma is a multidisciplinary creation that tells the stories of three real women. Virginie, at 17, hitchhiked across Europe to attend punk concerts. Jeanne, at 26, embarked on a round-the-world trip instead of staying in her hometown. Ana, at the same age, set off alone for India. The performance, written and performed by Ana Olcina and María del Plata Bertasi, blends theatre, dance, and music to reflect on what it means to travel solo as a woman: the fears, the decisions, and the search for autonomy.
Creation and staging
Described as "a tribute, a confession, and a cry into the air," the piece uses visual elements like shadows and movement to convey emotions. It is not a linear narrative but an artistic exploration that invites the audience to question what it means to take control of one’s own life. La Rambleta, a space dedicated to innovative performing arts, hosts this performance as part of its programme.
