Tunisia: Jazz and Flamenco in Dialogue
On 25 September 2026, saxophonist Tim Ries and guitarist Rafael Riqueni will open the Els Concerts a la Fundació series with Tunisia, a concert that brings together jazz and flamenco. The event, organised by Fundación Bancaja in collaboration with Pavasal, will take place at the foundation’s headquarters (Plaça de Tetuán, 23). The artistic direction is by Paco Bech, and the sound will be handled by Manu Meñaca.
The Artists
Tim Ries is an American saxophonist with a career spanning both jazz and rock. He has collaborated with artists such as The Rolling Stones (since the late 90s), Al Foster, Dave Liebman, Maria Schneider, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon. In Tunisia, his saxophone explores the lyrical and emotional side of jazz.
Rafael Riqueni is one of the most renowned flamenco guitarists, known for his innovative approach within the genre. His participation in this concert aims to create a dialogue between flamenco and other musical traditions.
Concert Details
Tunisia is the first concert of the 2026-2027 edition of Els Concerts a la Fundació, a series that will run until March 2027 and feature performances by Carmen Linares, Israel Galván, and La Tania, among others. Tickets for the 25 September concert are priced at a flat rate of €10 and can be purchased on the Fundación Bancaja website.
The exact duration of the show has not been confirmed, but concerts in this series typically last between 75 and 90 minutes.
