Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía opens the doors of its Main Hall on 4 October 2026 at 12:00 PM for a unique event: Una mañana con... Carmen. Aimed at families and opera lovers, this educational session reveals the professional roles and tasks that make an opera production possible, using Carmen—the iconic work by Georges Bizet scheduled for the 2026-2027 season—as a case study.
What does the activity include?
Attendees will discover firsthand how an opera is designed, built, and performed, from set design and costumes to musical direction and performance. The activity is part of the Educational Programme at Palau de les Arts, designed to bring lyric art closer to all audiences, especially younger ones, with no prior knowledge required.
Carmen under the spotlight
The session will focus on Carmen, one of the most performed operas in the repertoire, with music by Bizet and a libretto based on Prosper Mérimée’s novel. Participants will explore the technical and artistic details that make this work an unforgettable spectacle, as well as the collaborative effort behind every performance.
