Rural Spain of the 1960s on Stage
Teatro Flumen presents Els sants innocents, the theatrical adaptation of Miguel Delibes' eponymous novel. Performed in Valencian, this production brings to the stage the story of Paco and Régula, a family of day labourers subjected to the authority of the landowner Iván in rural Spain during the 1960s. The play explores themes such as social injustice, human dignity, and the struggle for freedom, with a raw and emotional approach that captures the essence of the original novel.
Lasting 90 minutes, Els sants innocents is aimed at an adult and family audience, though its themes may be intense for younger viewers. The staging seeks to preserve the essence of Delibes' text, blending drama and humanity to deliver a powerful theatrical experience.
