A show between nostalgia and satire
On 13 September 2026, El Selu —José Luis García Cossio— returns to La Rambleta with Universo Cádi, a performance blending humour, social critique, and a journey through time. After stepping back from the Fallas competition, the artist revives his most iconic characters: the drunk, the housewife, the lazy one, the henpecked husband, and Pepi. How have they changed after 30 or 40 years? The answer, in chirigota style, promises laughter and reflection.
The plot revolves around an absurd premise: Donald Trump, tired of invading countries, decides to conquer the universe. To do so, a group of scientists selects El Selu’s characters to repopulate other planets. This serves as an excuse to revisit his career and introduce «Los 10 mangamientos», a new chirigota inspired by today’s political landscape.
The script and direction are by El Selu himself, who has forged a unique style in carnival and chirigotas. The show starts at 19:00, and while the exact duration hasn’t been confirmed, his performances typically last between 90 and 120 minutes.
