Dorantes: the piano as a bridge between tradition and avant-garde
On 23 October 2026, Fundació Bancaja will host Dorantes, the Sevillian pianist renowned for reinventing flamenco through the keyboard. Hailing from a Gitano lineage in Lebrija, Dorantes has liberated the piano from its classical role, giving it a distinct voice in contemporary flamenco. His music, which weaves together influences from jazz, classical, and global rhythms, reflects a relentless pursuit of new sonorities while preserving the essence of jonda.
This concert is part of the Els Concerts a la Fundació series, an initiative that has established Fundació Bancaja as a key venue for live music in Valencia. With tickets priced at €10, the event offers an accessible opportunity to experience an artist with an international career, having performed at prestigious stages such as the Festival de Jerez, Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Montreal Jazz Festival.
