Concert Programme
On 29 August 2026 at 19:00, the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra will perform excerpts from Richard Wagner’s The Ring of the Nibelung in the Sala Iturbi of the Palau de la Música de Valencia. The programme includes highlights from the four operas that make up the tetralogy:
- Das Rheingold: «Abendlich strahlt der Sonne Auge» (performed by Nicholas Brownlee as Wotan).
- Die Walküre: «Ein Schwert verhieß mir der Vater» (Klaus Florian Vogt as Siegmund).
- Siegfried: «Waldweben» and «Ewig war ich».
- Götterdämmerung: «Siegfrieds Rheinfahrt» and «Brünnhilde, heilige Braut!» (Catherine Foster as Brünnhilde).
The musical direction will be led by Pablo Heras-Casado, with performances by Catherine Foster (soprano), Klaus Florian Vogt (tenor), and Nicholas Brownlee (bass-baritone).
Event Context
This concert is part of the Spanish tour celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival, founded in 1876 by Richard Wagner. The Bayreuth Festival Orchestra is the resident ensemble of the festival and specialises in performing the works of the German composer.
